How
Does S2S Align with State Science Standards?

The S2S program aligns with state science standards along the K-12 spectrum. The list below outlines how the S2S program addresses a few grade-level standards:

Kindergarten: Standard K.L.2: The student will demonstrate an understanding of organisms found in the environment and how these organisms depend on the environment to meet those needs.

Grade 1: Standard 1.L.5: The student will demonstrate an understanding of how the structures of plants help them survive and grow in their environments.

Grade 2: Standard 2.L.5: The student will demonstrate an understanding of how the structures of animals help them survive and grow in their environments.

Grane 3: Standard 3.E.4: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the composition of Earth and the processes that shape features of Earth’s surface.

Grade 4: Standard 4.L.5: The student will demonstrate an understanding of how the structural characteristics and traits of plants and animals allow them to survive, grow, and reproduce.

Grade 6: Standard 6.L.4: The student will demonstrate an understanding of how scientists classify organisms and how the structures, processes, behaviors, and adaptations of animals allow them to survive.

Grade 7: Standard 7.EC.5: The student will demonstrate an understanding of how organisms interact with and respond to the biotic and abiotic components of their environments.

Grade 8: Standard 8.S.1: The student will use the science and engineering practices, including the processes and skills of scientific inquiry, to develop understandings of science content.

Standard H.B.6: The student will demonstrate an understanding that ecosystems are complex, interactive systems that include both biological communities and physical components of the environment.

Standard H.E.3: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the internal and external dynamics of Earth’s geosphere.
